Martin Keighley Question and Answer

Just a quick interview for this festival morning, from a trainer no less than one from the Cotswolds and specifically Stow where I am now. I speak of Condicote trainer Martin Keighley who this week has a huge chance of winning the Ryanair with fan favourite Champion Court. Without further ado lets begin the interview and find a bit more about the yard and Martin Keighley himself.

Favourite Festival Memory?

Festival Memory was The Duke (David Nicholson) training a treble - Putty Road, Kadi & V, Flagship - an amazing day!

When Growing up who was your favourite horse?

Desert Orchid, he was awesome!

If I were to give you 100 pounds for one horse at Cheltenham, who would it go on?

£100 on Champion Court!

Biggest personal triumph in racing?

any winner - all are difficult to achieve!

Biggest disappointment in racing?

losing a horse on the gallops called Busby Berkeley for Smad Place's owners. Lovely people who tried everything to get the horse right - wind op, etc then he broke his leg doing a routine canter and it was devastating for us all especially them.

Best place to visit in Stow during festival week?

The Old Butchers - an awesome place to eat very special

If you could train one horse at Cheltenham, who would you train?

Like to train Sprinter Sacre

Is Hurricane Fly A good thing?

Yes H Fly is a good thing!!!! (note that question was answered after he had won the Champion Hurdle, if only betting was that easy!)

What festival race would you most like to win?

Like to win any Festival race but a championship race or D Nicholson race would be very emotional

Finally, how is Champion Court doing?

Champ in great form, fingers crossed. Thanks!!!

A huge thank you to Martin Keighley for taking the time out of his busy week to answer my questions, and I'm sure you will all join me in wishing Champion Court and Any Currency a safe round today.

Happy Punting Guys
